1 Nephi 22
Israel shall be scattered upon all the face of the earth—The gentiles shall nurse and nourish Israel with the gospel in the last days—Israel shall be gathered and saved, and the wicked shall burn as stubble—The kingdom of the devil shall be destroyed, and Satan shall be bound. Between 588 and 570 B.C.
This is one of those chapters where I have to reread verses because my mind is wondering off somewhere else. As I was reading I was trying to power through this chapter, so I could get to the next one, but then I stopped and started over again. As I read the 2nd time, things started to make sense for me. Mostly, it all came together in the end when Nephi says he's done talking about these prophecies, and then testifies that the writings on the brass plates (Old testament) are true and teach us the commandments of the Lord. Mostly, I was thinking about the 1st Presidency's Christmas message last night and how prophets through time have prophesied of Christ's birth. After hearing Elder Eyering's words I was really imagining the baby Jesus, and what it must've felt like for Mary to hold her new warm, little baby. And then I thought of Heavenly Father giving his only begotten Son, knowing that He would be spit upon and reviled and then ultimately pay the price for all of our sins. I still can't understand that kind of love, but I just think of that sweet baby and how special he was. While reading these early chapters in the Book of Mormon, they are all building up to the birth, life and atonement of Christ. I don't understand why it's such a hard concept for people to accept that Christ would appear to other people, besides those in Jerusalem. Heavenly Father loves all of His children, and I love to think that the Book of Mormon is just a further proof of the existence of Jesus Christ. It seems like wisdom to me.

I am really enjoying this daily lesson/reflection. I look forward to it each day.
I enjoy seeing what other people get out of the scriptures. I anticipate every morning what I'm about to read and the things that I learn from the words on that page.
Thanks
