Persuadeth to do good

2 Nephi 33
Nephi’s words are true—They testify of Christ—Those who believe in Christ will believe Nephi’s words—They shall stand as a witness before the judgment bar. Between 559 and 545 B.C.

Reading this chapter was an answer to a prayer. Nephi is talking about how he feels his written words are not as powerful as his spoken ones. If that's the case, I wish I could've heard him speak. His written words seem powerful to me. Just now these words floated off the page to me:

"And the words which I have written in weakness will be made strong unto them; for it apersuadeth them to do good"

I think about being a parent. How we try to get our children to do what we want. We bribe, we force, we cajole. How frustrating it is. But, then to learn from Heavenly Father, that the best way to teach is to persuade. To help them come to their own decisions. Nephi says how his plain words will have the power to persuade people to do good. He says it is through the plainness of truth. I know I'm a child of God. Here I am, so blessed, but I'm always trying to bend or break the rules. Heavenly Father is always there guiding me gently back onto the path. Showing me his forgiveness. I must be a very frustrating child to teach. But, I know Heavenly Father knows my heart. And, I know there is always hope.
