My Song

2 Nephi 22

In the millennial day all men shall praise the Lord— He shall dwell among them—Compare Isaiah 12. Between 559 and 545 B.C.

I loved this part from verse 2: "I will
atrust, and not be afraid; for the Lord bJehovah is my cstrength and my dsong"

So, this past Sunday, church was especially good. We got there early (for once) since we were asked to give the prayers. We had a bench up in the front. The kids were all contained, and had a new church game and the reverence book Chantel made for them. Kids being good? check. Then the speakers were amazing. Lisa Roseman spoke. Her talk was awesome!! I even wrote down some of the sciptures she quoted. The part I loved was when she spoke about praying at night, and that she feels she has to kneel on the floor by her bed. So, that's a resolution for me, no more lazy praying. Then one of our Stake High Councilors spoke, Brother Forsberg. Wow!! From the word go I felt like his talk was meant for me (isn't that vain?) But, he starts off saying "I've been impressed to speak on a subject that might be strange for a sacrament meeting." We're all wondering "what could that be??" Then he says "Horses" mmmmmmmm, got my attention. So he starts talking about how, as a young man, he grew up with horses, and he had to take care of them. How they are very curious animals, and they tend to gravitate towards things that will hurt them. How they need to be bridled. Then he goes on to speak about human nature and our desires/appetites and how they can be compared to the horse. That while allowed to roam free, they can lead people into dangerous territory, but while bridled they are some of the most powerful forces for good in our lives. He spoke repeatedly about fasting, and how our bodies become subject to our spirits while we fast. Amazing talk, amazing! I'm looking forward to fast Sunday for once!

Then Melanie Crawford sang. Not to brag, but I think we have one of the best singers in the church, in our ward. Her voice is so pure. For months she wasn't able to sing because of sickness. Seeing her on the program made me so excited! (For her and for all of us in the ward) Music has such an indescribable effect on our spirits. Sounds kind of silly, but it's like the energy/vibrations of the chords resonate with our own spirits. Like a very high order of communication.

So this brings me to my point about this scripture, that song is a way of expressing joy and gratitude. But also, it's a form of prayer. Makes me want to go buy some new music.
