Likening Babylon

2 Nephi 23

Destruction of Babylon is a type of destruction at Second Coming—It shall be a day of wrath and vengeance—Babylon (the world) shall fall forever—Compare Isaiah 13. Between 559 and 545 B.C.

This prophesy is to be compared with the destruction that will happen at the Second Coming. Wow, what an intense chapter. I'm trying to liken the Book of Mormon to my life, but I think I'll skip that exercise with this chapter. :) Sufice it to say I will try not to be one of the "proud and wicked". This prophesy says their "hearts will melt" "pangs and sorrows shall take hold of them; they shall be amazed one at another; their faces shall be as flames." Sounds like nuclear war? Or some yet unknown weapon/horrible disease? For the astars of heaven and the bconstellations thereof shall not give their clight; the dsun shall be darkened in his going forth, and the moon shall not cause her light to shine." Pollution? The horrible things we might do to the earth? Yikes! At least the last sentence says "I will be merciful unto my people, but the wicked shall perish."
