2 Nephi 30
Converted gentiles shall be numbered with the covenant people—Many Lamanites and Jews shall believe the word and become a delightsome people—Israel shall be restored and the wicked destroyed. Between 559 and 545 B.C.
This is a great chapter. I don't have time this morning to reread it, so I'm going to later today during homework time. I'll edit this then. I'm especially interested in the symbolism in the latter half.
Edit: I'm adding this a little late. Last week got away from me, so I'm playing catch-up today. I reread this chapter after my other scriptures for today. I'm feeling a little annoyed right now because I just spent about 20 minutes talking with Paige about money. I'll give a little background. She gets a weekly allowance for chores and her favorite thing is to take her money and go buy something on Saturdays. Well, lately she's been obsessed with her money. I even heard her in her sleep last night say "I have $12 is that enough?" This morning she keeps asking me when Daddy's going to give her "$4 for shooting all those hoops?" (basketball) All morning, while I'm trying to read and think, she's keeps asking me about this money. I tell her over and over, "I'm trying to read my scriptures right now, when it's 9:00 we'll talk about your money." Well, she persists, and 9:00 came and I stopped reading and sat down with her to explain tithing, savings, and spending money. She could not get over having to pay some of her money to tithing. She was crying hysterically, not wanting to give any of her money away. I tried active listening, I tried reasoning with her, I tried explaining that it makes us feel happy to share our money with those who need it. Nothing would get through to her. I finally told her I was disappointed that she didn't want to share with others. Long story short, I reread this chapter, but I'm feeling so irritated right now, that it's hard to concentrate. I guess I'll leave it at that and give it another go tomorrow.
