The Infinite Atonement of Jesus Christ

2 Nep 9

Jews shall be gathered in all their lands of promise—Atonement ransoms man from the fall—The bodies of the dead shall come forth from the grave, and their spirits from hell and from paradise—They shall be judged—Atonement saves from death, hell, the devil, and endless torment—The righteous to be saved in the kingdom of God—Penalties for sins set forth—The Holy One of Israel is the keeper of the gate. Between 559 and 545 B.C.

This is my new favorite chapter of the Book of Mormon. Finally, some teachings about the atonement and the plan of salvation. I love this link too. It's meant for people who are wanting to learn more about what Latter-Day Saints believe, but it's also a great overview of the Plan for church members to read. Basic truths always ring true. Anyhow, I want to better understand the atonement. My mind can "understand" that Christ took on all of our sins and died for us. But, I crave to have that lightbulb moment where I know that he died for me. That He knows me. That he loves me. I'm just too simpleminded to understand how He can know and love every person who's ever walked the earth. I'm always tripping over my own logic. I guess having that relationship with Christ requires of leap of faith, to step into the divide, and see that His love is infinite. Reading this chapter just brought me one foot step closer.
